Kate Guinness Design is seeking a talented Senior Interior Designer with a demonstrably strong background in leading design projects for a 12-month maternity cover which has the potential to turn into a permanent role. We are ideally looking for someone ready to hit the ground running and immerse themselves in all aspects of our design studio.

Founded in 2016, Kate Guinness Design is a small, approachable and experienced team which always strives to listen to our clients’ needs whilst also respecting the architectural integrity of each space on which we work. Our projects have the appearance of being gradually developed over time, combining antiques, fabrics, colour and art. We work very collaboratively with our clients to ensure that their needs are addressed, and their taste always shines through.  Having been included in House & Garden’s Top 100 Interior Designers list four times, we are a growing studio working on a range of exciting projects.

The senior interior designer must have a minimum of five years’ experience working on high-end residential and/or commercial design projects, along with a relevant degree or educational qualification in interior design, interior architecture or similar.

The ideal candidate will be confident in a client-facing role and be able to lead a team through the design process from concept to completion, working collaboratively alongside the Kate Guinness Design team and external suppliers, and under the creative direction of Kate.

Core Responsibilities:

·       Liaising with clients to define their vision and understand their preferences

·       Developing and presenting design schemes

·       Preparing project programmes internally and alongside third parties, such as contractors

·       Developing the design and project with input from the Director

·       Preparing and developing with the team detailed presentations, drawings, materials and other documents relating to the design

·       Managing the design process, contractors and suppliers from concept through to completion in an appropriate and efficient manner, ensuring that deadlines are met

·       Managing project costs to ensure the design is delivered within agreed financial parameters

·       Producing drawings, schedules and specifications

·       Building and maintaining good supplier and contractor relationships to ensure work delivered is of a suitably high standard

·       Managing and coordinating works on site

·       Managing and delegating to junior members of the team

·       Communicating progress, problems and any other relevant information effectively to the Director, client, etc.

Essential Qualifications and Skills Required:

·       An-industry recognised educational qualification in interior design and five or more years’ experience

·       Experience in dealing in a highly professional manner with clients, contractors and other professionals involved in delivering design projects

·       Extensive experience in sourcing/FF&E procurement, supplier management and the design of bespoke items, as well as a broad knowledge of materials and bespoke-item production

·       Ability to produce very high-quality design documentation including technical drawings

·       Experience of preparing high-quality tender packages

·       Strong leadership skills and a clear understanding of the interior designer’s role in the co-ordination and delivery of a successful project

·       Understanding of the financial aspects of running a design project, in particular the importance of running projects to time and within the boundaries of any agreed financial parameters

·       Proficiency in the use of Vectorworks, EstiMac and Adobe Creative Suite (in particular, InDesign and Photoshop)

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Start date: Flexible between now and the end of November 2022

Studio opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm

Location: Notting Hill, West London (Studio) or Pewsey, Wiltshire

Salary: Negotiable based on experience
